Expert Witness

Owen Atkinson takes instructions for Expert Witness work in cases involving dairy herd health and welfare, and related veterinary or management matters. He has particular veterinary expertise in cattle health, lameness, nutrition, veterinary medicines, milk medicine residues and cattle welfare. He is a RCVS registered Specialist in Cattle Health and Production and a member of the Animal Welfare Science, Ethics and Law Veterinary Association.

Recent instructions have included product liability claims involving feed, nutrition and farm inputs; regulatory and public inquiry matters relating to dairy husbandry and bedding standards; compulsory purchase proceedings affecting dairy farm operations; insurance disputes involving herd health and management; and animal welfare prosecutions brought by local authorities, including cases concerning the care and welfare of calves. Instructions have been received from both claimant and defendant solicitors across a range of civil and regulatory matters.

Owen has completed Bond Solon training in expert report writing and witness familiarisation (cross examination skills).
